out 16 hits and cruised to their third 10-run rule victory of the Sectional
with a 10-0 shutout of Hobart in the Championship game on Thursday.
“It was amazing
that we were able to get it done in five innings each game,” Chesterton
coach Dan Lynch said. “That kept us from having to tax our pitchers too

“We talked all week
about not overlooking anybody,” Lynch said. “We had to stay focused every
day, stay aggressive and be do what we were capable of. I think we did

win in the pitcher’s circle with three innings of work and four strikeouts.
Benko worked the final two frames and struck out two.
“Lauren did an
excellent job. She only gave up one hit and went through 10 hitters,” Lynch
said. “We wanted to use two pitchers and have one go through the lineup once
and then make a change. It seemed to work well. It helped keep their hitters
something we continue to do.”
The Trojans will
host the winner of the Lake Central-Crown Point game on Tuesday night in the
IHSAA Regional at Chesterton. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
