The Chesterton softball team finished off its regular season with a solid
4-2 victory at Munster on Friday night.
“This was a good game for us at the right time of the year,” Chesterton
coach LouAnn Hopson said. “This is the time of the year when you expect for
things to click.”
Munster scored the game’s first run with a leadoff single, a sacrifice bunt
and a two-out base hit.
Chesterton immediately responded in the top of the second inning when Ryan
Bozak reached on a one-out error and went to second on a passed ball. Bozak
scored on a Jeannette Sosnowski single.
Sammie Howard’s two-out single scored Sosnowski for a 2-1 lead.
In the third, Sydney Cooley came up with a one-out double and scored on
Megan Matheny’s two-out double.
Munster hit a one-out solo home run to cut the lead to 3-2 before the
Trojans put the final touches on the win. Heather Overla started the rally
with a one-out single and went to second on a ground out.
Taylor Harlow’s two-out RBI single set the final score.
“Our hitting was productive,” Hopson said. “And our defense and pitching
were solid.”
Megan Tymorek worked all seven innings for the Trojans, scattering five hits
and striking out four to get the victory.
