Chesterton Gymnasts open with DAC win

The two-time defending state champion Chesterton gymnastics team opened its dual meet season with a 110.20-91.275 Duneland Athletic Conference victory at LaPorte on Wednesday night.

Junior Mia Pak dominated the meet for the Trojans by winning the vault (9.725), bars (9.55), floor (9.40) and all-around (37.70). CHS’ Chloe Larson won the beam (9.225).

Sophomore Caitlin Cook finished runner-up in the vault (8.75), bars (9.35) and all-around (35.90) for Chesterton.

The Trojans return to action next Tuesday when they host Hobart beginning at 6 p.m.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 75.075, LaPorte NTS

The Chesterton junior varsity posted a 75.075 team score to open the season at LaPorte on Wednesday.

Individual event winners for the Trojans were Julia Turner on vault (8.85), beam (7.675) and all-around (31.775).

Madelynn Chestovich won the beam (8.2) and Belle Marchetti won the floor (8.575.
