Chesterton Golf beats Portage and LaPorte

The Chesterton boys golf team picked up two Duneland Athletic Conference victories over Portage and LaPorte on Friday at Robbinhurst.

The Trojans shot a 157 team score to better the Indians (163) and Slicers (165).

Michael Zondor led the way for CHS with a 38, while Zach Von Huben and John Kelley each shot 39. Kyle Krol tallied a 41 and Eric Richardson carded a 44 to complete the scoring.

The Trojans also played on Saturday in the Lafayette Jefferson Invitational won by Lafayette Harrison (326). Brownsburg shot 330, while CHS shot a 343 team score.

Kelley led the way for Chesterton with an 81, while Krol fired an 82 and Richardson shot 88. Zondor carded a 92 with Von Huben rounding out the scoring with a 98.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 184, LaPorte 189, Portage 192

The Chesterton junior varsity shot a 184 to beat LaPorte (189) and Portage (192) on Friday at Robbinhurst.

Gabe Davis led the Trojans with a 42, while Colton Bogich (44), Nick Friel (47), Justin Sellers (51) and Eli Winski (52) followed.

The Chesterton JV also finished eighth on Saturday at the LaVille Varsity Invitational.

Bogich led the way an 88 and Eli Winski fired a 96. Davis shot 98, Friel 99 and Matt Keator 115 to round out the scoring.
