The Chesterton girls tennis team continued its singles dominance with a 3-2
victory over No. 8 South Bend St. Joseph’s on Monday at the IHSAA LaPorte
Regional.
The No. 11 Trojans had little trouble earning their first point with a 6-0,
6-1 victory from Bobbi Modesto over Sid Corrigan at No. 1 singles. Meg
Modesto had only a little bit more trouble in garnering a 6-1, 6-4 win at
No. 2 singles over Haley Powers.
Chesterton’s third point came from Margaret Shinn 7-5, 6-0 over Madeline
Minaudo at No. 3 singles. Shinn trailed 4-3 in the first set, but won
10-of-11 games to send her team to the Regional Finals.
The Trojans will face off against No. 4 Penn on Wednesday for the right to
advance to Semistate.
