The Chesterton girls track team went 1-2-3 in three events and had little trouble in picking up a 103.5-29.5 victory over Highland on Thursday night.

“It was a nice first meet for us,” Chesterton coach Steve Kearney said. “We had a lot of kids get their first taste of action outdoors tonight and they ran pretty well.”

The Trojans got three individual victories from senior Katie Behrendt, one of which led to a 1-2-3 finish in the long jump (14-9 1). Ari Mahaffey was second (14-9) and Kaitlin Loehmer was third (14-3).

Behrendt also won the 200 (26.91) and the 400 (1:02).

“Katie had the day we’ve come to expect,” Kearney said. “We know those are points we can count on. She’s been doing it for four years.”

Chesterton also went 1-2-3 in the 1600 as freshman Kristen Homme won in 5:36. She was followed to the line by Melanie Buckmaster (5:37) and Linda Graff (5:47).

The Trojans backed that up with a 1-2-3 finish in the 3200 led by Buckmaster (12:03). Haley Cushway (12:10) finished second and Hannah Hoffman (12:25) was third.

“What a race in the two-mile,” Kearney said. “Our number four kid (Nora Schultz) was on pace to break our 5K school record. We’ve got a lot of depth in the distance races.”

Other individual winners included Stephanie Fisher in the 300 hurdles (48.04), Emily Kozak in the pole vault (8-6), Tori Schroeder in the 800 (2:32.30) and Elaina Gerlach in the high jump (5-2).

Chesterton also won all three relays. In the 4x800, the quartet of Rosie Biehl, Claudia Krygier, Homme and Schroeder were victorious in 10:25.17.

In the 4x400, the group of Kristin Mabry, Anna Raffin, Jordyn Kincy and Behrendt won in 4:20, while the 4x100 saw Raffin, Mahaffey, Catherine Pannekoek and Kincy win in 52.70.
