Chesterton Girls Tennis season ends at Regional Final to No 4 Penn
The Chesterton girls tennis teams’ run through the IHSAA State Tournament
ended on Wednesday with a 5-0 loss to No. 4 Penn in the LaPorte Regional
Final.
The Kingsmen picked up quick victories in doubles with a 6-0, 6-0 win by
Meredith and Madelyn Lee at No. 1 over JJ Lee and Rachel McCrum and a 6-2,
6-1 win for Cameron Moore and Haley Meekhof over Sunny Lee and Amanda Susnak
at No. 2.
In singles, Haylei Snelson ended the team match with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Meg
Modesto at No. 2 singles. Margaret Shinn battled Katherine Mader before
losing 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 3 singles.
The Trojans best chance at a victory came at No. 1 singles where Bobbi
Modesto won the opening set 7-5, but couldn’t hold on, losing the final two
sets to Alexandra Brinker 6-3, 6-0.
