Olivia Vesling just
The entire night
came down on the shoulders of the sophomore and Vesling responded with a
three-set victory to lift the Chesterton girls tennis team to a 3-2 Duneland
Athletic Conference victory over Valparaiso on Monday.
“I couldn’t be
prouder of both the varsity and the JV,” Chesterton coach Tom Bour said.
“It’s been a couple of years since either one have beaten Valparaiso.”
Vesling won the
opening set at No. 2 singles 6-3 over Valpo’s AK Flude. Flude answered back
with a 6-4 win in the second set, but Vesling was too much down the stretch
and won the third set 6-4.
“Olivia showed so
much fight in a match that was both physically and mentally tough to come
out on top of,” Bour said. “Those kind of wins can not only do good things
for her going forward, but can also inspire the team the rest of the

Alexis Orlich, while the No. 2 doubles team of Megan Hill and Rachel
Fredenburg beat Ainsley Grabarek and Grace Healy 6-2, 6-4.
