The Chesterton girls tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to Plymouth on Thursday night.

“Plymouth punched us in the mouth today and the bad part is that this isn’t the best team we’ll see,” Chesterton coach Tom Bour said. “We have a lot of work to do at the varsity level.”

In singles, Ashley Roof won the most games for the Trojans in dropping a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 2 singles to Erin Hunter.

At No. 1 singles, Plymouth’s Lanae Singleton beat Hannah Nabhan 6-1, 6-2 and Ashley Harrell beat Paige Donovan 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

In doubles, Megan Hill and Eliza Tumbas dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to Kendall Dreibelbis and McKenzie Scheetz at No. 1. Taylor Nemtuda and Kara Maggio fell 6-2, 6-0 to Cortni Cook and Leah Smith at No. 2.

“We’ll learn from each loss and hopefully improve match by match,” Bour said.
