Chesterton Girls Tennis beats Valparaiso

The Chesterton girls tennis team is 5-1 on the season with a 3-2 victory over Valparaiso in the Duneland Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Thursday.

The Trojans had little trouble in picking up the match’s first two points as Bobbi Modesto cruised to a victory at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-2 against Kelly Kennedy. At No. 1 doubles, Margaret Shinn and J.J. Lee beat Sonja Schaefer and Kate Spencer 6-3, 6-1.

After dropping decisions at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles, freshman Meg Modesto picked up the decisive third point with a 7-6, 4-1 retired victory over Caitlin Kennedy at No. 2 singles.
