Chesterton Girls Soccer impressive in opener

The Chesterton girls soccer team wasted little time in getting the 2013 season off to a flying start en route to an 8-0 Duneland Athletic Conference victory over Michigan City on Tuesday.

Bridget Brendza started the offensive onslaught less than a minute into the game off a pass from Katie Green for a 1-0 lead. Another Brendza goal, less than four minutes later, pushed the lead to 2-0.

Sophomore Kaylee Lindahl added a two goals for a 4-0 lead.

Brendza and Lindahl each finished a first half hat trick with one more tally and a 6-0 Chesterton lead at the half.

The final two goals of the night for the Trojans came from Claudia Krygier and Molly Wilson. Chesterton fired 30 shots on goal on the night, while not allowing one from the Wolves.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 6, Michigan City 0

The Chesterton junior varsity girls soccer team opened the 2013 season with an impressive 6-0 win over Michigan City on Tuesday night.

The Trojans took little time in scoring when Sam Wilson found the back of the net less than two minutes into the game.

Scoring for the Trojans included goals by Lennon Metz (2), Taylor Heemstra, Jessica Leake, and Mallory Benoit.

Marissa Sullivan and Haley Ochoa combined for the shutout.
