The Chesterton girls soccer team improved to 5-2 on the year and 2-1 in
Duneland Athletic Conference play with a 7-0 victory at Merrillville.
Autianna Peters put the Trojans on top early on with a goal before Dayna
Gallo found Bridget Brendza for a tally and a 2-0 Chesterton lead at the
half.
The Trojans dominated play after the break to the tune of four more goals en
route to the victory.
Second half goals came from Sam Wilson, Madisyn Coudriet, Nicki Kollar and
Brendza (2). Peters dished out three second half assists with Watson and
Brendza each recording one.
Alex Bucko recorded the shutout for the Trojans anchoring a defense that
included solid play from Sara Tumbas, Angie Jeka, Haley Charlebois, Bethany
Molnar, Kristen Mabry and Claire Brady. Elizabeth Benson continued her solid
play in the midfield.
The Trojans return to the field next Tuesday when they host Crown Point. The
junior varsity contest is set for a 5 p.m. kickoff.

The Chesterton junior varsity girls soccer team cruised to a 9-2 victory
over Merrillville on Tuesday.
Trojan goals were scored by Haley Ochoa, Maddy Jones, Katie Green, Marissa
Sullivan, Kaylee Lindahl, Grace Geenen and Nadia Mario.
Assists came from Green, Natalie Petro, Geenan and Claire Galloway.
