The Chesterton girls golf team finished second overall at the IHSAA Sectional at the Valparaiso Country Club on Saturday.

The Trojans advance to the IHSAA Regional next Saturday at BattleGround Golf Course in Lafayette.

“It was little higher score than we were looking for,” Chesterton coach Dale Hewitt said. “It was a tough day. A lot of wind.”

Cara Kroeger, Grace Davis and Andrea Hanas all shot 94 to lead the Trojans. Taryn Trusty carded a 98 and Caylee Casbon rounded out the scoring with a 111.

“The girls worked hard to fight through on a day when they may not have had their best games,” Hewitt said. “It was a good learning experience for the three freshmen heading into next weekend.”
