The Chesterton High School boys bowling team won the Indiana High School Bowling Sectional title at City Lanes in Michigan City last week.

In the boys team event, Chesterton entered as the second seed, 72 pins behind top-seeded Portage, and handled the Indians 216-70 and 170-148 in the Finals.

On the girls side, Chesterton finished third but did qualify for Saturday’s Regional at Heritage Lanes in Kokomo.

In the singles event, Chesterton’s Jimmy Hampton entered as the fourth seed and picked up wins over Michigan City’s Chris Wilson (198-195) and LaPorte’s Cordell Moyer to reach the Finals.

In the finals, after a slow start, Hampton ran off five consecutive strikes to beat top-seeded Adam Armstrong of Michigan City and win the individual Sectional title.

On the girls side of singles competition, Alyssa McCall entered as the second seed, but dropped a 226-189 decision to LaPorte’s Alyssa Foster. McCall did earn a berth in the Kokomo Regional.

Other Chesterton bowlers to advance to Regionals include Heather Waters, Austin Anderson, Damon Anderson and Ethan Achten.

Chesterton High School and Middle School bowling is hosted by Inman’s Family Fun Center in Valparaiso.

Anyone interested in the middle school bowling program (5-8 grades) should contact Randy Lohman at roadrunner6947@live.com. The season starts on Feb. 19.
