The Chesterton boys volleyball team traveled to Lafayette on Tuesday night to play a tri-match with Lafayette Jefferson and defending state champion Carmel.

In the opener against Lafayette Jeff, Chesterton controlled the first set easily and won 25-15. In the second set, trailing 19-10, Chestertonís aggressive serving and tenacious defense ignited a 25-22 comeback victory to secure the match.

In the second match, Chesterton lost to Carmel, 26-24, 25-21.

The close first set loss, 24-26, seemed to reignite Chesterton. They came out in the second set and were very aggressive. However, after trailing 10-16, the Carmel refocused and stole back the lead and eventual victory, 25-21.

Chesterton, now 5-1 on the season, will return to action this Saturday in the Chesterton Varsity and JV Invitational tournament at CHS.

Other schools attending include Noblesville, Hamilton Southeastern, Lafayette Jeff and Team Pineapple from Ft. Wayne.

The action will start at 9 a.m. in the CHS Main Gym. Admission is $5 for adults. All elementary, middle and high school students get in free.
