Chesterton Boys Volleyball run ends in State Tourney

Heading into the State Championship Tournament, the Chesterton (15-8) boys volleyball team had beaten No. 11 Wapahani, No. 6 Noblesville, No. 7 Carmel and No. 8 Center Grove in consecutive games.

However, No. 9 Chestertonís winning ways were stopped by No. 1 Hebron (25-3)

in the quarterfinals of the state tournament. The Hawks beat Chesterton 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.

Hebron went on to win the state championship later in the day.

Leading the way for Chesterton, playing in its first state tournament in just three years of existence, was Kai Cromwell(12 assists / 2 aces) who was selected to the IBVCA All-Tournament team.

Kevin Fekete (7 kills, 3 blocks), Joe Bishop (4 kills, 4 blocks), Nick Raffin (3 kills, 5 digs), Emilier Dejesus (5 kills, 7 digs) and Adam Whitlow (8 assists, 3 digs) played solid during the contest. Dominic Raffin (1 kill, 1 block) and Andrew Balon (1 kill, 1 block) each contributed as well.
