Chesterton boys volleyball No. 3 in state Rankings

After two weekends of play in the 2014 season, the Chesterton boys high school volleyball team is ranked No. 3 in the opening IVCA poll.

Chesterton opened the season with victories over Brebeuf Jesuit (25-16, 25-20) and No. 6 Carmel (25-21, 25-27, 25-18, 25-19) and losses to Trinity (KY) 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21 and St. Xavier (KY) 25-23, 28-26, 25-12.

During the seasonís second weekend, Chesterton went on the road again to face more challenging tasks as they came up short against No. 1 Indianapolis Roncalli (18-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-13, 15-9) and No. 2 Indianapolis Cathedral (25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-10).

In the afternoon, CHS avenged their previous loss to St. Xavier (KY) 31-29, 17-25, 25-22, 20-25, 15-12. In the final match of the weekend, Chesterton swept No. 6 Carmel (25-16, 25-16, 25-19) to even their record at 4-4 on the season.

Varsity players include Emilier DeJesus, Kai Cromwell, Dominic Raffin, Jack Roach, Andrew Balon, Adam Whitlow and Evan Ruffner.

Junior Varsity players are Max Dille, Kyle VanEekeren, Jared Gallina, Sam Tilden, Alex McGowan and Hunter Warren.

Chesterton will be back in action on April 5 at Lafayette Jefferson, April 12 at the Southport Classic and April 19 in the Chesterton Invite.
