Chesterton Boys Tennis falls to No. 18 Munster

The Chesterton boys tennis team dropped a tough 3-2 decision to No. 18 Munster on Thursday.

The lone winner in singles came at No. 1 as Matt Jewison beat Joe Webster 6-1, 7-5, while the No. 1 doubles team of Blake Ellenwood and Chad Whelan beat Frank Wolf and Zack Schmidt 6-3, 6-3.

The Trojans return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Ft. Wayne to face No. 19 Canterbury beginning at 9 a.m.

Munster 3, Chesterton 2


Singles - 1. Matt Jewison def. Joe Webster 6-1, 7-5; 2. Peyton Specht (M) def. Nick Hanson 7-6 (7-2), 6-0; 3. Jonathan Harris (M) def. Corydon Gaff 6-2, 6-2.

Doubles - 1. Blake Ellenwood/Chad Whelan def. Frank Wolf/Zack Schmidt 6-3, 6-3; 2. Kathir Venkat/DJ Fesko (M) def. Paul Petro/Luke Liapes 6-4, 6-2.

Record: Chesterton 8-4.

Junior Varsity

Munster 10, Chesterton 2

The Chesterton junior varsity dropped a 10-2 decision to Munster.

Winning for the Trojans were the doubles teams of Joe Wadowski and John Powell at No. 3 and Payton Disney and Sam Slutzkin at No. 7 doubles.
