Chesterton Boys Soccer shuts out Culver Academy 3-0

The Chesterton boys soccer team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 3-0 victory at Culver Academy on Monday night.

“We played much better and with a lot more energy tonight,” Chesterton coach Jamie Sensibaugh said.

Owen Hallas opened the scoring in the first half as he beat Culver goalkeeper Michael Wright one-on-one with his right foot.

“We kept the ball on the ground and had some good combinations,” Sensibaugh said. “We played wide and did a good job of getting the ball into the attacking third.”

Kevin Jugovic and Harley Lohmeyer added second half goals to set the final score. Ethan Conway picked up his fourth shutout with six saves.

The Trojans return to the field on Wednesday when they host Duneland Athletic Conference foe Merrillville.

Chesterton 3, Culver Academy 0


Chesterton -- Owen Hallas 1 goal, 1 assist; Kevin Jugovic 1 goal; Harley Lohmeyer 1 goal; Derek O’Dell 1 assist; Ethan Conway 6 saves.

Culver Academy -- Michael Wright 17 saves.

Record: Chesterton 4-1.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 1, Culver Academy 1

The Chesterton junior varsity played Culver Academy to a 1-1 tie on Monday.

Logan Stewart scored the Trojans’ lone goal, while Jordan Carlson recorded the assist. Peter Girzadas and Nick Harmon each tallied three saves in the victory.
