Chesterton Boys Soccer shuts out Highland

The Chesterton boys soccer team got two goals from Billy Biehl and Caleb Gmyrek recorded his sixth shut out of the season as the Trojans beat Highland 3-0 on Saturday.

“We came out really strong and determined in the first half,” Chesterton coach Jamie Sensibaugh said. “It was a good overall team performance.”

Biehl’s first goal came in the 16th minute when John Ward hit him with a pass as he streaked through the defense and beat Highland keeper Josh Bertossi.

Less than five minutes later, Highland failed to clear a ball and Biehl’s foot found it and scored.

The Trojans put another goal on the board in the first half as Trevor Turner found the head of Trent Weller with a pass to set the final score.

Chesterton 3, Highland 0


Chesterton -- Billy Biehl 2 goals; Trent Weller 1 goal; John Ward 1 assist; Trevor Turner 1 assist; Jameson Sensibaugh 1 assist; Caleb Gmyrek 4 saves.

Highland -- Josh Bertossi 7 saves; Evan Hillier 3 saves.

Record -- Chesterton 7-2.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 3, Highland 1

The Chesterton junior varsity soccer team improved to 9-0 with a 3-1 victory over Highland on Saturday.

Scoring for the Trojans were Matt Blake, Eddie Young and Blake Notzen. Sam Gutierrez had an assist.

Joey Dishman and Hunter Warren shared goalkeeping duties in the win.
