The Chesterton boys
soccer team picked up its first Duneland Athletic Conference win of the
season with a 5-0 victory over Michigan City.
“We played a
physical game tonight, but managed to keep our heads and play like a team,”
Chesterton coach Lucas Sabedra said.

goals each from Evan Ekblaw and Seth Conway with Andrew VanNoort adding the

goals from two defenders in Ekblaw and VanNoort,” Sabedra said. “Seth Conway
was very creative in the final third and created a lot of opportunities for
other players to join the attack.”

Bowser, Jordan Carlson and Soren Vagenius each dished out one assist.
Charlie Eaton (1
save) and Peter Girzadas (4 saves) combined for the shutout victory.
“Michigan City came
out with some explosive runs at our defense to start the second half,”
Sabedra said. “Peter Girzadas came up big with four quick saves.”
The Trojans return
to the field on Saturday when they travel to Indianapolis to take on Avon
beginning at 11 a.m.

junior varsity improved to 2-0 on the year with a 3-0 victory over Michigan
City on Wednesday night.
Ethan Schlyer (2)
and Matthew Marmolejo (1) scored goals for the Trojans, while Peyton Day
dished out an assist.
Quintin Krygier combined in goal for the shutout.
