Chesterton Boys Soccer blasts Michigan City 11-0 in DAC opener

The Chesterton boys soccer team scored early and often in winning its Duneland Athletic Conference opener 11-0 at Michigan City on Wednesday.

“We had the bus breakdown on the Interstate and with it being the first conference game, sometimes your team doesn’t respond to adversity in a situation like that,” Chesterton coach Jamie Sensibaugh said. “We did tonight. It was a complete team win.”

Trojan goals were scored by Billy Biehl (3), Trent Weller (2), Nate Needham (2), Datin Ringas, Jared O’Dell and John Ward. Michigan City also scored an own goal.

Assists were dished out by Jameson Sensibaugh (2), Drew Kamiski (2), Jason Garmany, Michael James, Biehl, Ward, Weller and O’Dell.

Caleb Gmyrek recorded seven saves in notching his second shutout of the season.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 3, Michigan City 0

The Chesterton junior varsity improved to 2-0 with 3-0 victory over Michigan City.

Scoring for the Trojans were Rico Zepeda, Brett Molnar and Kevin Jugovic. Owen Hallas had the lone assist.

Joey Dishman had seven saves to record the shutout.
