The Chesterton boys soccer team improved to 6-1 on the year with a 4-0
shutout at Munster on Saturday.
“A complete team effort,” Chesterton coach Jamie Sensibaugh said. “We worked
hard and executed in all phases of the game.”
The Trojans first goal came just four minutes into the game as Trent Weller
scored. The lead grew to 2-0 as John Ward took a pass from Weller to beat
Munster goalkeeper Xavier Hofferth.
“This team is very supportive of each other and we have excellent team
chemistry,” Sensibaugh said. “the hard work and extra conditioning really
helped in the hot and humid weather conditions.”
Chesterton kept the pressure on after the halftime break as Jason Garmany
scored on a rebound for a 3-0 lead. Adam Whitlow set the final score with a
goal in the 77th minute.
“This was a good game for us as we prepare for another state ranked opponent
and DAC game on Wednesday against undefeated Crown Point,” Sensibaugh said.
Trojan goalkeeper Caleb Gmyrek had six saves in recording the shutout.
