Back To Front Page

The Chesterton boys basketball team continued its winning ways with a 72-60 Duneland Athletic Conference victory over Crown Point on Friday night.

The Trojans found themselves down 30-25 at halftime and as many as eight points early in the third quarter before turning up the defense.

After battling back to a 51-all tie in the fourth quarter, the Trojans again made back-to-back defensive stops that turned into consecutive 3-pointers by Chris Palombizio and Antwan Beeks. Palombizio led all scorers with 23 points on the night, including three triples.

As the defense continued to cause havoc, Rhyss Lewis made a pair of free throws and Jacob Weber scored in the paint for a 61-51 CHS lead with just under three minutes to play.

The Trojans would knock down free throws down the stretch to set the final score. On the night, Chesterton was 21-of-26 (81 percent) from the charity stripe, while Crown Point was just 10-of-12.

Lewis finished with 19 points for the Trojans and Niles Dilosa tallied 17 points in the victory.
