The Chesterton High
School boys lacrosse team improved to 2-1 on the year with an 8-6 victory
over Homewood-Flossmoor in their home opener on Saturday.
Trailing 2-1 after
the first quarter, the Trojans erupted for five second quarter goals and a
6-3 halftime lead.
Scoring goals for
Chesterton were Trey Beeler (3), Dane Stanley (2), Sam Westergren (1), Mason
Witt (1) and Zak Smith (1).
six groundballs with Westergren and Jack Masten grabbing five. Blake
Ellenwood tallied four groundballs.
The Trojan defense
was led by Max Martin (3 groundballs, 3 takeaways). Kevin Fulk, Mason Thorne
and Wesley Selking contributed four groundballs and three takeaways.
In goal, Kyle Bucy
recorded 10 saves.
