Chesterton Boys Hoops blasts Hobart

The Chesterton boys basketball team built a 17-2 lead after one quarter and were never threatened in a 52-33 non-conference victory over Hobart on Tuesday.

“I thought our defensive intensity at the beginning of the game really locked them down and didn’t allow very many good shots,” Chesterton coach Tom Peller said. “That was the game right there.”

Chris Palombizio knocked down four 3-pointers in the first quarter on his way to a game-high 24 points.

“Chris getting off to hot start shooting the basketball got us going too,” Peller said.

Rounding out the scoring for the Trojans were Rhyss Lewis (4 points), Corey Rusboldt (7 points), Niles Dilosa (2 points), Jacob Wasielewski (8 points) and Brandon Roeske (7 points).

“I think Trent (Weller), Corey Rusboldt and Andrew (Ralph) are all playing really well,” Peller said. “Our chemistry keeps getting better every night and that’s what we have to have.”

The Trojans hit on 20-of-49 shots (41 percent) from the floor, while holding the Brickies to just 10-of-41 shooting (24 percent) from the field.
