Chesterton Baseball falls to Hobart 10-5

The Chesterton baseball team dropped a 10-5 non-conference decision to Hobart on Friday.

The visiting Brickies scored three runs in the first two innings before the Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the third. Corey Rusboldt reached on an error with two outs and scored on Tyler Sufana’s double.

Hobart answered with three runs in the fourth to build a 6-1 lead. Chesterton rallied with two runs in the fifth. A one-out single by Andrew Ralph was followed by a two-run home run from Rusboldt.

Offensively, the Brickies scored four more runs in the sixth to put the final touches on the victory.

A seventh inning rally that resulted in two runs from the Trojans wasn’t enough.

Sufana led the Chesterton offense with three hits, including two doubles, as Rusboldt and Cameron O’Brien each had two hits.

Junior Varsity

Hobart 9, Chesterton 1

Highland 13, Chesterton 10

The Chesterton junior varsity dropped two decisions over the weekend to Hobart (9-1) on Friday and Highland (13-10) on Saturday.

Against Hobart, Ben Thornton led the offense with two hits. Isaac Shook struck out seven in four innings of relief work on the mound.

Against Highland, Thornton again led the offense with two hits, including a double. Tyler Smithson and Blake Soffa each had doubles.
