The Chesterton boys track team battled through the weather to win four events at the nine-team CHS Relays on Saturday.

“With the cold weather and rain, I feel like our kids came out and performed pretty well,” Chesterton coach John Snyder said. “Overall, I was pretty pleased.”

On the track, the Trojans won the 4x400 Relay with the quartet of Joe Troop, Jon Watson, Ryan Cutter and Austin Palombizio winning in 3:28.55. Watson also anchored the Sprint Medley to a victory in 1:37.0 with teammates Troop, Adam Lara and Justin Moore.

“Jon Watson anchoring two winning relays with low 50’s in the quarter was nice,” Snyder said. “I was really happy to see that. Our sprinting group did real well led by Joe Troop.”

The Trojans other victory on the track came in the 300 Hurdles from the trio of Richie Ruff, Will Butz and Jacob Andrews in a combined time of 2:14.31. The trio, along with Dana Konchar, also finished second in the Shuttle Hurdles (1:01.94).

“The Shuttle hurdles got second and 300 hurdle guys winning each heat and blowing out the other teams was really nice to see,” Snyder said. “Will Butz ran really well and looked really good.”

In the field events, Chesterton got a victory in the Pole Vault with the trio of Justin Zosso, Peter Fouts and Tyler Fozkos with a combined height of 39-6.
