Big inning dooms CHS Softball

Kankakee Valley scored eight runs in the second inning and pounded out 17 hits in an 11-4 victory over Chesterton on Tuesday.

The Trojans jumped on top early with solo home runs from Sarah Richards and Mallory McKee in the top of the first for a 2-0 lead.

The Kougars ripped off eight hits and used a Chesterton error in sending 12 hitters to the plate in the second inning as they took an 8-2 lead.

The Trojans tried to mount a comeback in the third as Richards was hit by a pitch and McKee blasted her second home run of the day.

KV scored a solo run in the fifth after four straight singles and added two runs in the sixth with three consecutive two-out singles to set the final score.

Junior Varsity

Chesterton 10, Kankakee Valley 6

The Chesterton junior varsity beat Kankakee Valley 10-6 on Tuesday.

Britta Johnson had a triple and single with two RBIís to lead the offense as Elizabeth Zehner added two hits and two RBIís.

Emily Jerome pitched all seven innings for the Trojans with two strikeouts.
