baseball team improved to 3-1 on the year and 1-0 in Duneland Athletic
Conference play with an 8-1 victory over Portage on Tuesday.
The Trojans cracked
the scoreboard in the third inning as Tommy Benson drew a lead off walk.
After stealing second and third, Benson scored on an error for a 1-0 lead.
The lead would grow
to 3-0 in the fifth inning when Austin Peterson singled to start the frame.

The Indians scored
a solo run in the sixth inning before Chesterton answered with five more
runs. Patrick Sosby doubled to start the inning and Benson walked following
three-run home run to right field plated both before Roeske walked to
restart the rally. Brunt hit his second two-run homer of the night scoring
courtesy runner David Mahaffey to set the final score.
Peterson (3 RBIís) and Brunt (4 RBIís) each tallied three hits with Kolton
Cardenas and Chris Torres each garnering two hits in the win.
On the mound,
Peterson struck out seven in working six innings for the win. He scattered
five hits and allowed just one earned run. Steve Gilbertsen worked the
seventh inning and struck out two.
The Trojans return
to the field tonight when they head to Portage to face the Indians beginning
at 4:30 p.m.
