The Chesterton volleyball team dropped its first decision of the season
Monday night 25-27, 25-18, 28-26, 25-20 at Andrean.
Offensively, Shelby Ruffner led the Trojans with 13 kills, while Katie
Urycki added 10. Jennifer Williams, Emily Nix and Ari Mahaffey all had five
kills.
Mahaffey also dished out a team-high 25 assists.
Defensively, Sara Tarnowski had 19 digs with Jennifer Williams tallying 14
digs. Urycki added 13 digs in the loss.
At the net, Ruffner led the team with six block kills and Williams had four
block kills. Ali Ostrom added three block kills.
The Trojans return to the court on Thursday when they open Duneland Athletic
Conference play at home against Lake Central. The junior varsity and
freshman matches are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Junior Varsity
Chesterton

The Chesterton junior varsity improved to 6-1 on the year with a 25-12,
25-22 victory over Andrean on Monday night.
Aubrey Nagdeman and Samantha Stueber led the offense with three kills each,
while Whitney Schreiber, Shelby Snyder and Lia Lombardini all had two kills
each.
Snyder dished out a team-high seven assists with Nagdeman tallying four
assists.
Defensively, Ashley Hecimovich led the way with five digs and Allie Sink had
four digs. Snyder added three digs.
Freshman

25-25, Andrean 11-24
The Chesterton freshmen improved to 2-1 on the year with a 25-11, 25-24
victory over Andrean.
Olivia Sech led the offensive charge with three kills, while Elena Azcona
also recorded a kill. Caitlyn Toth had three assists.
Defensively, Taylor Eaton recorded seven digs, with Vanesa Quiroga, Toth,
Alaina Kogler and Sech all getting one dig.
On the service line, Quiroga had a team-high six service aces with Eaton
adding five. Kogler tallied two service aces in the win.
