Chesterton Boys Tennis beats Lake Central

The Chesterton boys tennis team improved to 3-1 in Duneland Athletic Conference play with a 3-2 victory over Lake Central on Thursday afternoon.

Mike Clemens beat Peter Boyd at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Zac Nabhan beat Daniel Shanks at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2 for an early 2-0 Chesterton lead.

Lake Central secured both doubles points as TJ Ruzga/Brad Staszewski beat Ryan Sears/Conner Kuhnle 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 and Kyle Crawford/Luke Oboy beat Remy Hoang/Brent Sergent 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 to tie the match.

Trey Moffett secured the victory for Chesterton with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles over Todd Banvich.

Record: Chesterton 4-5 (3-1 DAC).

Junior Varsity

Lake Central 5, Chesterton 4

The Chesterton junior varsity picked up three singles points and one in doubles, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 5-4 to Lake Central.

In singles, Christian O’Brien (No. 1) and Brady Wade (No. 2) each won and O’Brien also secured another point in a play-back singles match.

Tom McGue/Dylan Jayasuriya won at No. 1 doubles 4-2, 4-3 (7-2) to pick up the Trojans lone doubles point.
