The Chesterton boys soccer team improved to 2-1 in Duneland Athletic
Conference play and 4-1 overall with an 8-1 victory over Merrillville on
Wednesday night.
“I thought we played very well,” Chesterton coach Jamie Sensibaugh said. “We
kept the ball on the ground and tried to play quicker. We played outside and
wide and that created a lot of chances to score.”
The Trojans outshot the Pirates 14-3 on the night, including a hat trick by
sophomore Billy Biehl and two goals from Colin Ringas.
Other goal scorers included Nick Barango, James Halpin and Jared O’Dell.
Assists came from Zach Froman, Barango, Eric Dreischerf, Cole Gordon and
Kyle Kogler.
The Trojans return to the field on Saturday at home when they face off
against Munster. The junior varsity game is scheduled for a 10 a.m. kickoff.
