The list of accomplishments are almost too numerous to print, but CHS seniors
Zack Novak and Amanda Gough can add Senior Athlete of the Year to their
resumes.
Novak’s senior year will be most remembered for his prowess in basketball
where he became the school’s all-time leading scorer, earned First Team
All-State honors and was named to the Indiana All-Star team that will play
against Kentucky.
Novak was a four-time MVP in basketball, while leading the team in scoring
four times and rebounding three times. He was team MVP in basketball four
times and was named Duneland Athletic Conference MVP as a senior.
He was also named area Player of the Year by the Times of Northwest Indiana,
the Post-Tribune and the Michigan City News-Dispatch.
On the baseball field, Novak was named Most Improved and had the team’s
highest batting average as a freshman. He’s a four-time All-Conference
selection on the diamond as well.
Novak earned nine varsity letters during his time at CHS and is a 10-time
Scholar-Athlete. He will attend the University of Michigan on a basketball
scholarship next year.
Gough was a three-sport athlete all four years at CHS, earning eight varsity
letters.
She was named MVP twice in Volleyball and once in Softball, while also
earning Third Team All-State and being selected to play for the North
All-Star team this spring. She also earned All-Conference honors in both
sports.
Gough currently holds four school records including single season doubles
(softball), career assists (volleyball), single game assists (volleyball) and
single season assists (volleyball).
She led the basketball team in assists last year and was named to the
All-Area team in volleyball and softball by the Times of Northwest Indiana
and the Post-Tribune.
Gough will attend Clarion University (Clarion, PA) on a volleyball
scholarship next year.
