The Chesterton baseball team improved to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in Duneland
Athletic Conference play with a 5-1 victory over Michigan City on Tuesday.
The Trojans broke open a 1-1 game in the fifth inning with a pair of runs and
added two more insurance runs in the seventh to give Dan Detmar his first win
of the season.
Detmar threw 5 1/3 innings allowing six hits and striking out two. Glenn
Peterson picked up the save by going 1 2/3 innings and striking out four.
Offensively, Jeremy Ross was 2-for-2 with a double to lead Chesterton.
De’Andre Dukes and Ryan Lindquist also added a hit.
The Trojans return to the field on Thursday when they play LaPorte beginning
at 6 p.m. at Railcats Stadium in Gary.

Junior Varsity
Chesterton 17, Michigan City 6
The Chesterton junior varsity scored 10 runs in the seventh inning to blow
open a close game and beat Michigan City 17-6 on Tuesday afternoon.
Austin Cooley led the offense with a 4-for-5 day including 5 RBI’s. Justin
Jenks, Josh Hood and David Crownover all had two hits for the Trojans (4-4,
3-3).
