It’s a dream every high school basketball player in Indiana has – to be an
Indiana All-Star.
For the third time, Chesterton High School will have a player bestowed that
honor as senior Zack Novak was named to the Indiana All-Star team that will
play Kentucky.
Novak averaged 26.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.6 assists per
contest and became the school’s all-time leading scorer. He also is third
all-time on the Porter County scoring list.
The last Trojan named to the All-Star team was Brett Buscher in 2000, while
Matt Nover was the first honoree after the 1988 campaign.
The All-Star’s will play a Junior All-Star team at Washington High School on
June 9 and on June 11 in Marion. Chesterton varsity coach Tom Peller will
serve as an Assistant Coach for the Junior All-Stars.
The rest of the All-Star team consists of Indiana Mr. Basketball Tyler Zeller
(Washington), Garrett Butcher (Edgewood), Randy Davis (Plymouth), Gordon
Hayward (Brownsburg), Braydon Hobbs (New Albany), Kyle Kuric (Evansville
Memorial), Julian Mavunga (Brownsburg), Julius Mays (Marion), Daniel Moore
(Carmel), Walter Offutt (Warren Central), Chase Stigall (New Castle), Larry
Stone (Indianapolis Howe) and Alex Young (Indianapolis Northwest).
The first Indiana-Kentucky game will take place on June 13 at Conseco
Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, while June 15 the two teams square off for the
final time at the Louisville Gardens.
