Telecommunication tower in Liberty Township on Porter County BZA agenda

The Porter County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet for its regular meeting Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Room 205 of the Porter County Administration Building, 155 Indiana Ave. in Valparaiso.

The third case on the agenda under new business, which includes a public hearing, is a request by Verizon Wireless, represented by Bryan Donley, seeking a special exception variance to allow construction of a new 150-foot telecommunication tower and accompanying facilities at 19 W. U.S. 6 in Liberty Twp.

The property is zoned high-intensity commercial and is the location for the Pet Haven Pet Shop.

Other cases include Phyllis Biedron of 771 West CR 350S in Porter Twp. who is seeking a use variance for allowing an existing facility to board dogs on a short-term basis for professional obedience and agility training. The property is zoned Rural Residential.

George Landgrebe of 208 North CR 250W in Center Twp. seeks to renew a use variance to permit the manufacture and sale of automobile tow dollies. The property is zoned Single-family Residential.
