Porter County Parks and Rec presents programs for May

The Porter County Parks and Recreation presents the following programs for residentsí enjoyment and enrichment in May.

Programs at Sunset Hill Farm County Park (775 N. Meridian Rd. in Liberty Twp.):

*  Meet the Animals at Sunset Hill Farm Park. Saturday, May 6 and Friday, May 12, 9:30 to 10:30 am. Join park caretakers for hands-on learning about farm animals and visit the new baby goats. This is a free program.

*  Acrylic Painting. Saturday, May 6, 10 a.m., to 12 p.m. Create a guided step-by-step painting. All supplies included. All skill levels welcome. Cost is $10.

*  Wild Edibles Public Hike. Saturday, May 6, 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Hikers will go around Sunset Hill Farm and discuss what can and cannot be eaten in the woods. Meet next to the parking lot. This is a free program.

*  Mom & Me Acrylic Painting. Saturday, May 13, 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 2 p.m. Moms and their kids are invited to create their own masterpiece. All supplies included. Cost is $35 for mom and child.

*  Spring Out to Sunset Festival. Saturday, May 20, 12 to 5 p.m. This Spring festival will feature old-fashioned baseball, live music, pony rides, inflatables, laser ball, games, crafts, animals, and a beer tent. The cost is $5 per car.

*  Yoga at the Farmhouse. Sundays, May 21 to July 9, 9 to 10 a.m. An hour-long program that will leave participants relaxed and invigorated. The cost for the series is $75 or $10 for one session.

*  Youth Track and Field. Wednesdays, May 31 to July 19, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Boys and girls 4-12 of all skill levels are welcome to participate on the Porter County Parks track team. Email bkreiger@porterco.org for more information and meet dates. Cost is $55.

Programs at Brincka-Cross Gardens (427 E. Furness Rd. in Pine Twp.):

*  Dream Circle Share. Saturday, May 6, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Share and explore dreams in a safe setting. Cost is $10.

*  Yoga at Brincka-Cross. Sunday, May 7, 10 to 11 a.m. An hour of restorative yoga in the serene setting of Brincka Cross Gardens. Cost is $10.

Programs at the Porter County Expo Center (215 Division Rd. in Washington Twp.), in conjunction with Purdue Extension and Porter County Extension Homemakers:

*  Windowsill Herbs. Wednesday, May 31, 5 to 6 p.m. Learn tips and tricks for growing herbs all year long. This is a free program.

*  Attracting Butterflies. Wednesday, May 31, 6 to 7 p.m. Learn what to plant to attract butterflies. This is a free program.

*  Container Gardening. Wednesday, May 31, 7 to 8 p.m. Learn tips and tricks for container gardening. This is a free program.

Acrylic Painting with Parks On the Go:

*  Acrylic Painting at Kouts Public Library (101 Daumer Road). Thursday, May 11, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Step-by-step instructions to create a masterpiece. All supplies included. All skill levels welcome. Cost is $10.

*  Acrylic Painting at Hebron Public Library (201 W. Sigler St.). Tuesday, May 16, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Step-by-step instructions to create a masterpiece. All supplies included. All skill levels welcome. Cost is $10.

*  Acrylic Painting at Hawthorne Park (500 Ackerman Drive in Porter). Wednesday, May 31, 3 to 5 p.m. Step-by-step instructions to create a masterpiece. All supplies included. All skill levels welcome. Cost is $10.
