The Office of Porter County Auditor Vicki Urbanik will host the third annual “Saving Money” art contest as part of Money Smart Week¨, April 21-28.

Porter County students in grades K-8 are invited to decorate a piggy bank design or to submit an original drawing about the importance of saving money. Students should title their drawing by the completing the following sentence: “Saving money is . . . ”

The piggy bank designs are available at the Auditor’s Office and on its website. The deadline to submit drawings to the Auditor’s Office is 4 p.m. Friday, April 20.

All artwork will be on display at the County Auditor’s Office during Money Smart Week 2018.

Urbanik said the art contest is intended to help students think about the importance of saving money while showcasing their artistic skills. “We are encouraging students to get as creative as they want in decorating the piggy bank and the border. Students are free to use different colors, patterns, and images on their design. If they are saving money for something in particular, they can illustrate that as well. The point is to think about managing money and to have artistic fun at the same time.”

This is the third year in a row that the Porter County Auditor’s Office will be a partner in Money Smart Week, a national effort to help people with their personal finances.
