Dunes Pavilion project not on Tourism Board meeting agenda Thursday

Back To Front Page

The Porter County Convention, Recreation and Visitors Commission will meet Thursday at 3 p.m. for its regular monthly meeting.

The agenda lists “presentation” but PCCRVC Executive Director Lorelei Weimer explained that it is “a standing agenda item” and there will not be discussion on the Indiana Dunes Pavilion renovation and banquet center project currently being undertaken by Pavilion Partners, LLC.

She said she does not anticipate the board will discuss the project. PCCRVC Board President Mitch Peters could not be reached for additional comment this morning.

The PCCRVC’s April meeting agenda originally had on it “discussion of redevelopment of the Pavilion and the addition of the conference center” but Peters took it off due to opposition from the public.

Peters said there will be a special meeting held to receive a presentation from Pavilion Partners. April audience members were told they would be informed when that meeting will be but the date has not yet been set.

The board will, however, discuss the approval of PCCRVC guidelines and schedule a budget committee meeting.

A staff report will be given by Weimer along with reports from Peters, Treasurer Richard Riley and Attorney Dave Hollenbeck.

The board will also give time for public comment.

The meeting will be held in the meeting room at the Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center, 1240 N. Ind. 49.
