County Parks offer variety of programs and activities for June

The Porter County Parks and Recreation Department has released its schedule for the program and activities throughout June.

-- Wire Wrapping II at Sunset Hill Farm, June 1: Jayde will teach advanced wrapping techniques from 10-11:30 a.m. A fee of $20 includes wire to wrap one 2”or smaller item, a stone, plus the needed tools. Call 456-3586 to register.

-- Acrylic Painting Lessons at South Haven Library on Monday, June 3: All skill levels are welcome to attend this adult art class under the guidance of an experienced instructor from 6-8 p.m. Painting surface provided.

-- Senior Walks at Sunset Hill Farm sponsored by Porter Regional Hospital, June 5: Come take the Colonel Murray History Walk for free from 3-4 p.m.

-- Women’s Walk Club sponsored by Porter Regional Hospital: Join Jenna Martin for a walk on the challenging terrain at Sunset Hill Farm trails. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 8-9 a.m. The walk is free for residents.

-- Sunset Dog Walkers from June 4-Aug. 29 on Tuesdays and Thursdays: Join Jenna Martin, RN and bring your pet on a leash for a walk on the trails at Sunset Hill Farm for free starting at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at Sunset Hill Farm.

-- Kids Fit Club at Sunset Hill Farm: Grades 3-6 will join Becky and Jenna in a fun workout utilizing the beauty of Sunset Hill Farm. The Club is Mondays and Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. starting June 10 through July 31. The cost to participate will be $40.

-- Young Artists: Fathers Day Project at Sunset Hill Farm: On June 8 from 1 to 2 p.m., youth painting instruction will be given for all skill levels. The focus of the class will be creating a Father’s Day gift.

-- Summer Friday Feedings at Sunset Hill Farm: Come meet the goats, chickens and pony and help them get ready for the day on Fridays from June 14 to Aug. 30 starting at 9 a.m. The activity is free.

-- Feeding Time on the Farm: On Saturday, June 15, from 7 to 7:45 p.m., come to Sunset Hill Farm to meet the goats, chickens and pony and help get them ready for bed. Stay for the campfire!

-- Family Campfire: Sunset Hill Farm History: On Saturday, June 15, from 8 to 9 p.m., families and groups will enjoy a wagon ride, campfire, and learn the history of Sunset Hill Farm. Cost is $5 per family.

-- Weekend Hayrides at Sunset Hill Farm: On Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, you can enjoy an evening hay ride sponsored by the Northern Indiana Historical Power Association. Times are 6 to 10 p.m. with the last wagon going out at 9:30 p.m. Cost is $3 per person. Private group hayrides available please call Nick Misch at 309-0417.

-- Go FishIN at Brookdale: For free, you can learn to tie knots, prepare a hook, cast properly and act safely in and around water. This activity will take place on Saturday, June 15, from 1-3 p.m.
