The Porter County Parks and Recreation Board will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday for their regular monthly meeting in Room 205 of the County Administration Building, 155 Indiana Ave. in Valparaiso.

On the agenda, the board will discuss the proposed farm animal committee to oversee the raising of animals at Sunset Hill Farm for the park’s interpretive programs and give children an idea of what farm life was like in the earlier parts of the 20th century.

Also under new business, Porter County Parks Foundation members will have a discussion with the board about their new acquisition in Chesterton proposed as a bird sanctuary.

The board will also hear reports from its seven goal committees: Raise-the-Barn, Marketing and Sponsorship, Land Acquisition, South County Park Land, South Field Restoration, Maintenance and Service Standards, Budget and Personnel.

Reports will also be given by Parks Superintendent Walter Lenckos, board attorney David Hollenbeck and the Northwest Indiana Historical Power Association.

There will also be an opportunity for the public to make comments.
