Commissioners to hear Lakeshore request to vacate right-of-ways

The Porter County Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. on Tuesday inside Room 205 of the County Administration Building, 155 Indiana Ave..

Business items on the agenda include a petition by the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore to vacate subdivision right-of-ways in the Dunewood Subdivision, Hawleywood Subdivision and Pottawatomie Vista. The right-of-ways are in Westchester Twp. off Tremont Rd. in Porter, north of U.S. 20 and the Discovery Charter.

The Commissioners in 2012 agreed to turn over ten roads or portions of roads over to the National Lakeshore including Dunewood Ave., Duneland Rd., the north leg of Hawleywood Rd. and Pottawatomie Rd.

A letter of agreement will be presented to allow Mary Ann Greg to open the Paul C. Zona, Sr. Wildlife Sanctuary on a daily basis for $225 per month.

Also, the Commissioners will consider a general services contract with financial consultant Umbaugh & Associates and a contract with Revelation Waste Partners.

Appointments will be made by the board to the County Redevelopment Commission, Stormwater Advisory Board, and the Shared Ethics Advisory Commission.

Stephen Kromkowski of DLZ Indiana will ask the Commissioners to approve payment application six for the Porter County Animal Shelter.

In department requests, Memorial House Director Scot MacDonald and Expo Center Director Lori Daly will request to move funds received from the County Tourism Bureaus’ venue support funds.

The Porter County Parks Department will ask the Commissioners to hold second reading on a fund to receive grant money from the Indiana Lake Michigan Coastal Grant to acquire additional land at Brincka Cross Gardens Park.

Coroner Chuck Harris will present an amendment to the services agreement with Porter Hospital for x-ray machines.

County Treasurer Michelle Clancy will ask the Commissioners to approve a proposal to create tax information and maintenance from LOW Associates, which will be updating the County’s financial system.

ITS Director Don Wellsand will ask the Commissioners’ approval for a copier maintenance agreement with Adams Remco for the County Clerk’s office as well as an invoice from NCI to install four network cables at the new Animal Shelter and a quote from NITCO for a new internet service for the County Prosecutor’s office at 15 N. Franklin St.

Facilities Director Matt Stechley will ask approval with Gertzen Water Management Co. for a sewage screening management service agreement at the County Jail.

Highway Superintendent Andy McKay will request an additional appropriation of $100,000 for additional bridge invoices.
