Candidate filing ends at noon on Friday

The deadline to file for a Porter County office, township office, a state convention delegate or a Democrat precinct committeeman is this Friday, Feb. 7 at noon.

Candidates are to submit a Declaration of Candidacy CAN-2 form and a Statement of Economic Interests available at the Voters Registration Office or on the Indiana Secretary of State’s website, www.in.gov/sos/elections.

Those filing to be a state convention delegate or a precinct committeeman are exempt from filing a Statement of Economic Interest form.

Races for the upcoming May 6 primary elections include County Council Representative Districts, Center District County Commissioner, County Prosecutor, County Recorder, County Assessor, County Auditor, County Coroner, Township Trustee and Township Board members.

School board candidates do not file at this time. Filing for them does not take place until July 23.

Filings for local races are to be done at the Porter County Voter Registration Office located in Room 105 of the County Administration Center, 155 Indiana Ave. in Valparaiso.
