Gov. Eric Holcomb has appointed Jeffrey W. Clymer to the bench of Porter Superior Court No. 2.

Holcomb announced the appointment on Friday.

Clymer succeeds Judge Bill Alexa, who retired on Oct. 3.

Clymer received his undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College and his law degree from Valparaiso Law School. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk in St. Joseph, Mich. After his clerkship, he worked in private practice in Valparaiso, handling a wide variety of cases, both civil and criminal.

Clymer is an experienced mediator and has also been an adjunct law professor at Valparaiso Law School since 1999.

“Mr. Clymer brings to the bench a deep understanding of a wide range of legal issues and skills to settle disputes in a fair and just manner,” Holcomb’s office said.

Clymer will be sworn in on a mutually agreeable date yet to be determined.
