The Porter County 4-H staff have moved their offices out to the county
fairgrounds ready to check-in projects for judging and display at the 2013
Porter County Fair.
4-H Building exhibit projects will be checked in from 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on
Monday, July 15. Exploring 4-H Exhibits for grades K-2 will also be checked
in at the 4-H building from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
4-H Flowers, Garden, and Container Gardening projects are to be checked in
Wednesday, July 17, at the 4-H Building from 9 to 10 a.m.
Following is a schedule of 4-H related events during the Fair, July 18-27.
All events are at the county fairgrounds located at 217 East Division Rd.

Thursday, July 18 -- Dog Check-in at the Show Arena will be from 7 to 7:45
a.m., followed by Dog Obedience at 8 a.m. 4-H Dog Showmanship will be held
in the Show Arena starting at 11 a.m. Check-in for Aquatic Science and
Herpetology projects will be from 9 to 10 a.m. at the 4-H Building.
Friday, July 19 -- Rabbit Check-in will be from 7 to 11 a.m. in the
Rabbit/Poultry Barn followed by the 4-H Rabbit Show at 1 p.m. Foods Check-in
will be in the Expo East-upstairs from 8 to 9 a.m. Dog Check-in will be from
1 to 2 p.m. in the Show Arena. The 4-H Dog Agility Show starts at 2 p.m. The
4-H Model Bridge Strength Test and Breaking Exhibition will be at the Buggy
Wheel Pavilion from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Open Draft Horse Show starts at 6 p.m. at
the Horse Arena.
Saturday, July 20 -- The 4-H Draft Horse Check-in will be from 7 to 8 a.m.
in the Horse Arena, followed by the 4-H Draft Horse Show at 9 a.m. The 4-H
Rabbit Show is at 9 a.m. in the Rabbit/Poultry Barn. 4-H Barbecue Set-up and
competition starts at 10 a.m. inside the Park Place Pavilion. Taste of 4-H
Foods Auction begins at 12 p.m. inside the Buggy Wheel Pavilion. In the Show
Arena, the Open Beef Show is at 9 a.m. followed by the Open Sheep Show at
1:30 p.m. Check-in for the 4-H Dog Show is from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Show
Arena with the Dog Show at 5 p.m.
Sunday, July 12 -- Check-in for the Cat Show is from 12 to 1 p.m. in the
Show Arena followed by the Cat Show at 1 p.m. 4-H Music Project Performances
will be given in the Park Place Pavilion from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The 4-H Beef
Carcass on Hoof Show will start at 6 p.m. in the Show Arena.
Monday, July 22 -- The 4-H Lamb Carcass on Hoof & Royale Class Show will
start at 8 a.m. in the Show Arena followed by the 4-H Market Lamb Show & 4-H
Lamb Lead Show at 9 a.m. The 4-H Horse and Pony Project Test will be given
at 11 a.m. at the Horse Arena and at 1 p.m. starts the Horse & Pony Trail
Classes. In the Show Arena at 5 p.m. is the 4-H Swine Show.
Tuesday, July 23 -- The 4-H Market Swine show is at 8 a.m. in the Show
Arena. Horse & Pony English Classes are at 10 a.m. at the Horse Arena. At 5
p.m. in the Show Arena is the 4-H Goat Show.
Wednesday, July 24 -- Pigeons Judging takes place 8:30 a.m. in the
Rabbit/Poultry Barn followed by the 4-H Poultry Show at 9 a.m. The 4-H
Cattle Groom Contest starts at 9:30 a.m. in the Show Arena followed by the
Beef Show at 10 a.m. Horse & Pony Western Classes are at 10 a.m. in the
Thursday, July 25 -- The 4-H Dairy Show begins at 8 a.m. in the Show Arena.
The 4-H Poultry Show begins at 9 a.m. in the Rabbit/Poultry Barn. Horse &
Pony Halter Classes are at 10 a.m. in the Horse Arena. The 4-H Celebration
Sale starts at 6 p.m. inside the Show Arena. Horse and Pony Versatility
Classes in the Horse Arena are also at 6 p.m.
Friday, July 26 -- The 4-H Rooster Crowing Contest begins at 10 a.m. in
Rabbit/Poultry Barn. Horse and Pony Gaming Events are at 10 a.m. in the
Horse Arena. The Youth Livestock Judging Contest starts at 1 p.m. in the
Show Arena. The 4-H Llama Show beings at 2 p.m. in the Show Arena. The
Master Showmanship Contest begins with its opening ceremony at 7 p.m. in the
Horse Arena and Show Arena.
Saturday, July 27 -- The 4-H Llama Show is at 9 a.m. in the Show Arena. At 1
p.m. the 4-H Miniature Equine Show takes place in the Cattle Barn. Battle of
the Barns and 4-H Ten-Year Member Recognition starts at 7 p.m. in the Show
County 4-H staff will be available at the 4-H Building office from 8:30 a.m.
to 9 p.m. most Fair days. The Extension Office at the County Administration
Building (155 Indiana Ave., Valparaiso) will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday.
