Local Buyers: R.V. Sutton Excavating of Liberty Township purchased a 1,210 pound Anjou Steer from Christopher Chaplin a 3 year 4-H member at the Porter County Fair 4-H auction last night. Record Breaker: Shady Lawn Florist of Chesterton purchased the reserve grand champion swine carcass on Thursday evening at the Porter County 4-H Fair Celebration Auction. The record breaking $5.25 per pound went to swine owner Christopher Chaplin. 4-H Music Champions: Pictured left to right are Lakeshore Drifters members, Mary Herrod, Reserve Champion for Voice and Aris Ringas, Grand Champion for Piano at the 4-H Porter County Fair. Earlier this spring, Herrod, a 2003 CHS grad, was named by NWI Theatre Foundation as Best Principal Actress for her portrayal of Cosette in “Les Miserables” at CHS.
