Adoptable pets: The TSC Barnyard exhibit at the Porter County Fair includes a booth by the Porter County Animal Shelter, where adoptable pets can be found. Sydney Sharpe, 11, a WIS 6th grader, was taken with the kittens the shelter had on view, though she said she’d really like a pet rabbit. Sydney’s parents are Teri and Keith Sharpe of Chesterton. The Fair continues through Saturday, July 28 at the Porter County Fair grounds.

Ready to go: Morgan Meyer, 15, was in the horse barn at the Porter County 4-H Fair Monday evening, getting her horse Charlie ready for a workout. Meyer will show Charlie, a 4 year-old Quarter horse Paint gelding, in the English classes on Tuesday, the Western classes on Wednesday and in the gaming events on Friday. Meyer is a member of the Jackson Volunteers 4-H group and a Chesterton High School sophomore.

Friends at the Fair: These three Duneland girls enjoyed meeting up at the horse barn, where all three were visiting horses in their stalls. Left to right are Abby Canright, a 6th grader at WIS; Natalie Melcher, a 6th grader at LIS and Emily Marcus, a 5th grader at WIS. The 4-H Fair continues through Saturday at the Porter County Fairgrounds.
