Twenty to contend for title as 2011 Porter County Fair Queen

The 2011 Porter County Fair Queen pageant will take place inside the NWI Times Park Place Pavilion tent at the Porter County Fairgrounds on Friday, July 22, at approximately 7 p.m.

The twenty contestants will be judged based on an interview, professional wear, evening gown, and an impromptu question.

Following is a list of all pageant contestants, name of their sponsor, and town of residency:

Autumn Cole (McAfee Animal Hospital), Chesterton; Caitlin Herzog (Valparaiso Kiwanis Club), Hobart; Elise Gustafson (Sand Creek Country Club), Valparaiso; Elizabeth Burnell (BRQ Quickprint, Inc.), Valparaiso; Emily Brennecke (Part Solutions), Valparaiso; Emily DeYoung (Hebron Dairy Queen Grill and Chill), Hebron; Erica Wayne (Westchester Animal Clinic), Hebron; Hannah Granzow (Sage-Popovich, Inc.), Valparaiso; Jessica Johnson (Porter County Farm Bureau), Valparaiso; Jessica Shapley (Wisdom Ranch), Hobart; Katherine Hines (Hines Plumbing, Inc.), Valparaiso; Kristy Oats (Bloom Animal Clinic), Chesterton; Krystal Phelps (Bloom Angus Farm), Valparaiso; Logan Rassel (Goetz Hosta Farm & Landscaping), Valparaiso; Madelin Zahrn (Birky Family Farms Country Gourmet), Westville; Mandy LaFever (Culver’s of Portage), Hobart; Megan Kaczmarski (Polarek Engines), Valparaiso; Rachel Lundstrum (Anderson’s Vineyard and Winery), Valparaiso; Sarah Smith (Above Board Construction), Portage; Sloan Jones (Valparaiso Rotary Club), Valparaiso.

Four of the contestants are 2010 graduates of Chesterton High School: Elise Gustafson, Kristy Oates, Madelin Zahrn and Sloan Jones.

The fair officially opens on July 21 at 4 p.m. and runs until July 31.

The Porter County Fairgrounds and Expo Center is located at 217 E. Division Rd. in Valparaiso south of the U.S. 30/Ind. 49 intersection.
