4H Livestock Auction Tonight: 4Her Stephanie Chaplin shows off a black angus steer on Wednesday afternoon during the Cattle Show at the Porter County Fair. The Livestock Celebration Auction will take place this evening starting at 6 p.m. located in the 4-H Livestock Arena in the center of the Midway.

Learning about goats: Noah Lussman and his siblings got to hold a baby goat Wednesday afternoon at the Porter County 4-H Fair. Pictured with their grandmother, Chesterton resident Barbara Bolesch, are Noah, Ben, and Stephanie. The children are visiting from Iowa and spent Wednesday afternoon at the Porter County Fair with their grandparents Barbara and George Bolesch. The Lamancha goat named Mitsy is owned by Jessica Medley of Valparaiso.

Dressed and Ready to Show: Jamie Cahillane and her horse Flash earned Reserve Champion in the 4-H Horsemanship competition on Wednesday afternoon in the Porter County Fair Horse arena. Cahillane will be a junior this fall at Chesterton High School.

Ready for a Walk: Morgan Meyer, a 4-Her of Westville, places a halter on her horse Charlie before taking him out to exercise on Wednesday afternoon. The duo will be participating in competitions including English Pleasure and already took part in Jumping in the horse arena at this year’s Porter County Fair. Morgan will be a junior this fall at Chesterton High School. The Fair continues through the end of the week, with the 4-H Livestock Auction tonight beginning at 6 p.m.

Practice makes perfect: Chris Hughes is pictured in his show attire riding his horse Sage in the practice ring, preparing for Showmanship and Horsemanship competition on Wednesday afternoon at the Porter County 4-H Fair. Hughes will be starting his junior year at Chesterton High School this fall.

Freshly Groomed: 4-Her Alex Hughes, an 8th grader at St. Patrick's School in Chesterton, is shown brushing his horse “Cat” on Wednesday afternoon in the horse stables.
