Dairy Milk Sold at 4-H Auction: 4-H member Elisabeth Jones, sophomore at Chesterton High School, is shown with her Reserve Grand Champion Holstein which produced Dairy Milk for this year’s 4-H Celebration Sale. The gallon of milk was sold for $250 and was purchased by Jack Rust, of Porter County Farm Bureau. Elisabeth also took honors in best herd, best udder, best dam and daughter, Champion in Jr. holstein calf, Reserve Champion Sr. holstein, and Reserve Grand Champion holstein. Shady Lawn Florist buys Steer: Owners of Shady Lawn Florist of Chesterton purchased a steer at this year’s P.C. Fair Celebration Sale. The steer was sold by 4-H member Stephanie Chaplin for $1.25 a pound. Pictured left to right is Jim Chaplin, owner of Shady Lawn, Stephanie Chaplin, 4-H member and cousin Megan Keating, of Chesterton.

Lake Erie Land Company buys steer: LEL of Chesteron helped in supporting 4-H at this year’s 2007 P.C. Fair Celebration Sale. Pictured left to right is P.C. Fair Queen, Karlie Schultz, purchaser LEL Project Manager, Keith Sharpe, his son Kyle, 4-H member Megan Sutter owner of the Reserve Grand Champion Swine, Reserve Achievment Embassidor, Breanne Combs, and Achievment Ambassador, Whitney Della. The swine was purchased for $6.50 per pound.

Local Buyers: RV Sutton Excavating Inc., of Chesterton purchased two Reserve Champion Pen Swine at this year’s Porter County Fair 4-H Celebration Sale held on Thursday evening. The Swine were sold for $3.00 a pound by 4-H member Adam Tofte-Patrick at far left, of Jackson Township.
